DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
This staff aug position is to support the Hanford organization on a variety of tasks. There will be the need to perform the following activities under minimal supervision:
  • Work closely with others (including but not limited to subject matter experts and senior management) to obtain information that will be incorporated into Hanford documents.
  • Work in IDMS both retrieving documents and saving documents.
  • Preparation of Hanford products such as weekly reporting and presentations such as Hanford Notebooks.
  • Develop written products, upon request, that are tailored to audiences of a wide variety of technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Provide support to leads on Hanford products and deliverables such as communications and other tracking, various metrics as assigned.
  • Responsible for distribution of Hanford communication products across multiple platforms.
  • Provide support as directed for general vapors deliverables, including overarching plans, documents, and activities to support assessments and reviews.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A senior technical writer/editor provides superior writing, editing and formatting services. A senior technical writer may supervise and mentor less experienced writers, create style guides and manage documentation projects.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Impeccable writing, spelling, and grammar skills,
  • Experience producing technical communications, or related Minimum of 10 years of technical writing experience
  • Master’s degree in English or equivalent field experience
  • Knowledgeable of Adobe and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Visio, Excel. PowerPoint and Outlook)
  •  Demonstrated ability to reliably work under tight schedule deadlines, independently managing time and priorities
  • Experience working in a government environment using government procedures and documents
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Tank Farm experience is desired
  • Experience with Action Items and schedule statusing, project and performance reporting
  • A self-starter with organizational skills to successfully juggle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting tight and variable timelines.
  • Ability to work and complete assigned work tasks under minimal supervision, including leading project development efforts
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to facilitate project milestones. Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate to peers and management.
  • Demonstrated confidence working with senior technical experts and management
  • Under minimal supervision, performs work that is varied and requires the application of sound professional judgment, using independent analysis on details of work with evaluation, originality and ingenuity.
  • Experience producing communications materials across an array of platforms and media
  • IDMS experience is desired.
